"It is ugliness, not beauty, that is only skin-deep."—William Ecenbarger

SAY HELLO TO Xoloitzcuintles

PRONUNCIATION Show-low-eats-queent-lay

ORIGINATED FROM Aztec word meaning UGLY or WRINKLED DOG.

BREED Mexican hairless dog.

DISTINCT CHARACTERISTIC Hairlessness, not even eyelashes. Hence, if their eyes are exposed to dust, it would look like they are crying.

HAIRLESS? They became hairless through a genetic fluke, about 3000 years ago.

AS A PET It is suitable for people with asthma and allergies.

HOW MUCH? It is more or less $2000.

OWNERS SAY
>That they are calm, affectionate, and good-natured. Therefore, they get along with children.

>Since they don’t have hair, there's no shedding (or fleas). Ergo, you don’t have to dust off your clothes, carpets, et cetera. Moreover, they do not necessarily need a groomer (perhaps for cutting the toenails).

>Xolos are also excellent watchdogs.

>Plus, they are warm in bed.

So still ugly, huh? I must say that UGLINESS is, indeed, only skin deep.
