The first modern Olympic Games were in Athens, Greece (1896)
-From Athens to la Ville Lumiere (the City of Lights) --- Paris, France (1900)
-To the Gateway City --- Saint Louis, USA (1904)
>The 1906 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece were considered to be as "Unofficial Olympic Games" by the IOC.
From the "unofficial" to the City --- London, England (1908)
-To the City of Bridges --- Stockholm, Sweden (1912–first utilization of electric timing devices and a public address system)
>To the City of Great Changes --- Berlin, Germany (1916–the games were cancelled because of World War I)
After the war, the next Olympic Games were held in Antwerp, Belgium (1920) where the first official Olympic flag was flown. -From Belgium back to Paris (1924) and then to the Venice of the North --- Amsterdam, Netherlands (1928)
-Went back to LA and Berlin (first to be televised and used transmissions of the results), in 1932 and 1936, respectively.
>The 1940 and 1944 Summer Olympic Games were cancelled because of World War II.
After the war, the Summer Olympic Games resumed in London in 1948.
-From London to Stadi/Hesa --- Helsinki, Finland (1952)
-To the City of Arts, Sports and Fun --Melbourne, Australia (1956)
-To the Eternal City--- Rome, Italy (1960)
From Rome to the City of Contrasts --- Tokyo, Japan (1964– the first use of computers to keep results)
-To the Ciudad de los Palacios (City of Palaces) --- Mexico City, Mexico (1968-the drug testing launched)
-To "München Mag Dich" --- Munich, West Germany (1972– best remembered for the murder of 11 Israeli Olympians)
And then from Munich, to the City of Saints --- Montreal, Canada (1976)
-To the World's Most Expensive City (2007) --- Moscow, Soviet Union (1980- largest boycott of the Olympics in history)
-And back again to Los Angeles (1984)-- (China first participated since 1932)
Then from LA to the Most Expensive City in Asia (2007) --- Seoul, Korea (1988)
-To Ciutat Comtal (City of Counts) --- Barcelona, Spain (1992)
-To Atlanta-Pacifica --- Atlanta, Georgia (1996)
-To the Harbour City --- Sydney, Australia (2000)
Back again to the one of the World's Oldest Cities --- Athens, Greece (2004)
