Boodle Fight

Boodle Fight

(Photo left)--I saw this picture in my brother-in-law's digital camera. This was taken last month during the Boy Scouts camping in Malagos, Davao City. It's a 30-to-45-minute ride from the city.

This is boodle fight. That was the first time I've heard of it.
Boodle Fight

Boodle Fight, what is it?
(Photo right from travel.webshots.com)--A military style of eating, Boodle Fight is a symbol of brotherhood where food is served and spread on top of the banana leaves. The prepared Filipino food, usually rice and pancit, should be eaten with bare hands by a group of people. No plates. No spoon. No fork.

Maybe some people will find it unhygienic or uncultured, but sometimes you cannot be too choosy, especially when you want to survive in the middle of nowhere. You just have to satiate your starving stomach, or else.

  1. oh! jane...if I'm right! you are from Davao. And withat of boodle fight.I personally had myself feeding on the food. It's was an awesome yet yucky experience,I'm a rover scout!! Awesome because it's something like "Fear factor or so".Yucky because the food we've eaten tasted like over-riped bananas. It's a mixture of all of the excess food we had a day before we'll get the hell out of the camp. And I'm proud of sayin "I wouldn't have it any other way".

better than sleeping with an empty stomach.

  6. I don't find this unhygienic; kasi naghuhugas rin naman ng kamay ang mga kumakain at malinis din ang food kapag bagong luto; if eaten immediately wala namang magiging problema sa boodle fight.
