Air Purifier and Its Benefits

For patients suffering from asthma or other respiratory illnesses, they can benefit from installing an air purifier. According to various studies, this appliance can reduce contaminants found indoors, significantly. This is because it can filter and eliminate pollutants that can trigger allergies, asthma, and other respiratory conditions.

The best thing about installing an air purifier at home or in the office is the fact that you can breathe easily knowing that harmful particles floating in the air are caught by said appliance.

Although air purifiers are beneficial to the health, it is still essential to have proper ventilation at home or office. Also, when purchasing air purifiers, it is ideal to look for air purifiers that use HEPA filters. They can effectively filter indoor air without releasing side products.

Roosters Crow in the Morning... Why?

I don’t need to use an alarm clock as I am always awaken by the shrill cry of the cock owned by our neighbor.

Roosters do crow any time of the day but most of the crowing occurs early in the morning because they are most active at this time. They crow to advertise their territory. This is their way of saying, “This is my territory, so get out of my way.” But this territorial advertising is just one of the types of communication roosters make.

The Beauty of Batangas and Its Water

Yes, I am craving for underwater adventure. To satisfy that, I need to travel to Batangas. Some of the people I know who have been there told me about the amazing things that had happened to them while staying in Batangas. Not to mention their scuba diving experience. They sure had a great time night diving and swimming with mandarin fishes, catfish eels, snake eels, etc.

Batangas is definitely a must stop for me during this summer

Google Pays Me $$$

In the past few days, I have been seeing ads about “Google Pays Me $$$ for...”

I almost believed it, but when I read the terms, I realized it was a scam. Google or any other companies do not have the guts to give individuals free money. Still, I wish Google will pay me $100 a day by simply using its search engine.

Onions and the Tears They Caused

I like to cook but not the part when I need to slice or mince onions as they always make me cry for no reason at all... or perhaps, there is a reason the tears fall down every time.

When cutting, the gas in the union called propaniethiol S-oxide is activated. It then combines with the enzymes found in the onion resulting in a release of passive sulphur compound of the onion. As this sulphur moves upward and reaches the eye, it mingles with the water in the eyes creating sulphuric acid which will then cause tears to form and fall while cutting this bulbous plant.

Intramuros in Manila

Intramuros is one of the tourist attractions in the Philippines. If you want to see how Manila looked like during the times when the Philippines was still a colony of Spain, then you should visit this place. This is the only district in Manila that does not have a touch of modernization. That would mean, you could see the old walls, old cobblestone streets, old churches, etc.

Intramuros was built by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in 1571. During the Spanish era, this place was used as a center of political, religious and military power of the Spaniards. When World War II came, Intramuros was utilized by the Japanese as a military post and a prison. During that time though, the beauty of Intramuros was severely damaged because of the allied bombings that aimed to crush the Japanese occupants and to free the Philippines from Japanese invasion.

Fortunately, today, the remains of the walled city have been preserved. A visit to Intramuros allows you to look around Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church, San Agustin Museum, and Manila Cathedral.

Safe Deposit Box: To Buy or To Rent

Passport, birth certificate and other important documents are needed to be stored in a safe place. In my case, my essential documents should be kept in a home security box safe from theft, fire and flood.

But I am considering a bank safety deposit box as it can provide additional security. However, only a few banks here in DC offer such service. Plus, the overall cost of renting a bank safety deposit box is more expensive than purchasing a home security box.

Superficial Cut and Deeper Cut: Which is More Painful?

My left pinky hurts because of paper cut. Superficial cut is more painful than deeper cuts. The reason for this is that the nerve endings are located in close proximity to the skin surface. Naturally, the hands consist of more nerve endings than in any other areas of the body.

This is also the reason why a “prick” is more painful than venipuncture.

External Hard Drive

I decided to purchase external hard drive, instead of signing up with an online backup solution. Although the latter option is safer and more convenient, the cost is not favorable to me.

Anyway, I am looking for an external hard drive (not solid-state drive) that is durable. Because the prices of external hard drives reduced significantly, I can safely purchase a 1 TB drive without hurting my wallet. As for security, I think I could settle with a storage box that can hold data and nothing more. Speed may not be a big issue for me as I am only transferring documents, photos, and some installers and movies.

Based on my research, one of the most recommended external hard drives is Western Digital.
