“You know what, sir, in my 22 years of existence I can say that there's nothing major, major problem that I've done in my life because I'm very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So thank you so much that I'm here. Thank you, thank you so much!"
Because of her answer, many Filipinos (experts) are recommending that the future Miss Philippines should opt to have an interpreter. But here is my take: I do not think Venus Raj and the next Miss Philippines need an interpreter in order to win the crown. Rather, they should train themselves on how to organize their ideas in seconds. Plus, they also need to learn how to overcome their nervousness so they can think clearly.
Just remember what happened to Miss South Carolina during the Miss Teen USA pageant in 2007. She can speak in English fluently but she uttered an obscure, incoherent answer: “I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people out there in our nation don't have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as, uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us.”
Therefore, there is no need for an interpreter (unless our own Miss Philippines does not understand the English language) just to win the elusive Miss Universe crown. By the way, there are other competitions that we can focus on, like international debate championships, battle of the brains, and the likes.
Modified answer of Venus Raj: “You know what, sir, in my 22 years of existence I can say that there's nothing major, major problem that I've done in my life because I always think before I act. Through my family’s love and support, I always make a right decision.”
She understood the question and had an idea, but she was too nervous she could not organize her thoughts coherently. Training on public speaking is what she (and the next Miss Philippines-Universe contestant) needs not an interpreter.

I am planning to buy compact refrigerator for my PB products. According to experts, when looking for a small fridge, I need to consider the things that I will be storing in this appliance. Since I value freezer space, I need to scout for a compact refrigerator that has a top freezer that occupies the entire width of the fridge. So far, I have not seen anything that satisfies my needs. Sighs.
It is also essential to look for a compact refrigerator with the Energy Star label. I visited different appliance centers in Davao City and almost all small fridges available have such label attached to each of them.
Apart from that, experts also recommend to evaluate the budget when purchasing compact refrigerator. Based on the prices I have gathered, I need to save more so I can buy such appliance. Sheesh.

The Trash to Cash program of SM mall is held every first Friday and Saturday of the month. As my way of helping (and earning) the Mother Earth in cleaning up the mess human beings have created, I participated in this program last August 7. I rid of my old Epson printer, busted electric fan, and flooded answering machine. From these items, I earned PHP 70+. I think, it was an okay deal considering the fact that junk shops do not accept printers and answering machines.
I am planning to join the Buy Back Fair of NCCC to compare the prices of recyclable waste materials from SM's Trash to Cash. The said program is held every last Saturday of the month that started last March 27, 2010. I am considering turning over my used ink cartridges to this program since they buy it per piece, unlike at SM in which they purchase said recyclable materials per kilo.
Here is the price list for some of the recyclable waste materials accepted at SM's Trash to Cash:
Computer Hardware:
CPU – PHP 10/kg
Monitor- PHP 4/kg
Keyboards and Printers – PHP 3/ kg
Used Appliances:
Air condition – PHP 20/kg
Washing machine – PHP 12/kg
Electric Fan – PHP 8/kg
Refrigerator – PHP 8/kg

Before my grandmother died of colon cancer, she had to endure the fact that she needed to use a wheelchair for more than a year. I was one of her "caregivers" and I know how difficult it was for her to move around, especially when she needed to get in the car. If we had known about NMEDA that difficulty could have been alleviated.
NMEDA is a non-profit association of mobility dealers, manufacturers and rehabilitation professionals that aims to provide safe, reliable vehicles and modifications in order to improve accessibility for all people.
Furthermore, NMEDA or National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association offers education to consumers to help them make an informed decision when they purchase products from a NMEDA qualified dealer.
The group does not sell anything; rather they only promote safe driving and pieces of equipment that could assist disabled people. Its members are mandated to follow safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It is their dealers/members that sell handicap vans and vehicle modification for disabled individuals.
NMEDA has both dealers and Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealers. QAP is a recognized accreditation program that tackles Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It adheres to the principle that the only way to satisfy customer consistently is to have a systematic and documented approach to quality.
You may visit NMEDA.org to help you find a NMEDA dealer, a qualified dealer that can help your disabled family member to get back on the road of independence.

I had been to Bohol when I was still a child. For that reason, I could no longer remember anything about that visit. Since Bohol will always stay in its present location, I can go there anytime and visit my ancestor's land.
One of the most famous tourist spots in Bohol is the Chocolate Hills. This tourist attraction has 1,776 perfectly cone-shaped hills located in the Central Bohol. Two of those hills are developed into a resort that provides accommodation, restaurant, conference rooms and a deck for viewing the magnificent hills.
How to get there?
From Davao to Bohol: by plane
From Tagbilaran, Bohol to Chocolate Hills: by bus

That is according to the global survey conducted by RD. Respondents from 16 countries were asked about how they would conduct themselves if they happen to see a wallet having $1000 in it. According to the survey, 86% of the Filipino respondents chose to return the wallet and the money.
Even though Philippines has high rates of public corruption and definitely has low per capita incomes compared with Australia, US, Canada and UK, Filipino respondents preferred to be honest than not having a clear conscience.
But what if RD would ask the same respondents on what they would do if they found a bag with $1,000,000 in it, would they still choose to be honest and return the bag and the money? Just wondering.

Goviral Network is not new in the business. It has been an alternative solution for individuals who want to monetize their blogs. It works based on pageview concept. That means, you will earn revenue when visitors play the video you have embedded on your post. What is interesting about Goviral Network is that the campaigns can be customized according to your site's description. In other words, your visitors will not see any commercial about medical equipment, if your site tackles the lottery.
Video campaigns in Goviral Network are in different sizes and variations. You can choose a video that you want. You will gain a small fee every time those videos you have posted on your blog are played and viewed.
To join the many avid fans of Goviral Network, you should register your blog at Goviral Network. Your blog will be reviewed. If your site satisfies the requirements of the company, you can start selecting the type of campaign you want to post on your blog.
What is even better about Goviral Network is that you can convert your earning to your local currency. Through its extensive reports, you are able to view how much you have earned.
I am heading to Goviral Network's site and give it a try. Users of this system say that this is better than the other companies that also offer pay-per-click advertising.
Sigh, I still dream of owning and driving a Mini Cooper. I could not find any used or second-hand Mini Cooper here in Davao. I only saw its counterparts, like Honda Fit, Daewoo Matiz, Hyundai Getz.
But I am not losing hope.
In a few years, one of those Mini Coopers in the market will be mine.
“You will be mine someday.”

Banco De Oro UnibankTwo weeks ago, we were hunting for a used vehicle to be utilized in the farm. According to experts, purchasing a used or second-hand vehicle is always a gamble. But thankfully there are ways to make a wise decision when it comes to buying such vehicle.
How to check a used car before purchasing it
Inspect the car body. Look for cracks, dents, worn wipers, etc. When you look at the reflection of the car that has not been into an accident, you will not see any ripples. The body lines are straight. You should also check the paint if it does not have any mismatched colors. Corrosion can be discovered by sticking a magnet to the most common places where rust occurs, like lower door panels.
Unfortunately, I was not able to bring a magnet while inspecting those vehicles.
Check the appearance of the tires. Irregular wear on one side means alignment or suspension problems.
Scrutinize the VIN. Look for any signs of altering.
Interior. According to experts, the interior of the car is as important as the car's engine. Hence, look for any signs of excessive wear and tear. If the car has been flooded, it will emit bad odor no matter how hard you try to get rid of it using an excessive air freshener.
I removed the freshener installed in those vehicles to smell their natural odor. To be safe, we only inspected vehicles with Davao plate.
Engine. As regards to this matter, it pays to hire a trusted mechanic to check the engine.
Test drive it. This is one of the best things about inspecting a used car.
I had the chance to drive a Mitsubishi Strada automatic transmission, even though the seller/owner knew I could not afford the price.
We used these and other factors as our guide in helping us find a perfect used car.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey
1. Be proactive. (Not sure yet if I'm doing it right.)
2. Begin with the end in mind. (Still trying…)
3. Put first things first. (I failed...most of the time)
4. Think win/win. (I am)
5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood. (Kind of difficult to do)
6. Synergize. (I am taking my first step tomorrow)
7. Sharpen the saw. (I need to go back to the first habit to be successful.)
These are the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People given by Stephen R. Covey, a well-known consultant and author. I borrowed it from my brother and I am on my way to the finish line, hoping to have a favorable outcome in applying them into my life.

Ah, Christiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid and Portugal National Team. He is one of the reasons I am hooked to FIFA World Cup. He is one of those guys I wanted to see in the middle of the night watching 2010 FIFA World Cup. I always love to see him taking off his shirt while on the field. I thought he was perfect, he is after all an Armani underwear model.
While I was browsing photos of him to show some to my friend (who doesn't know he is), I came across this photo:
Yes, the bronze and beautiful soccer guy Christiano Ronaldo has distorted and discolored toenail that might be caused by Athlete's foot. Am I disgusted with this photo? Partly…
But this I cannot forgive. Was he trying to hold the "balls" of Spain's Sergio Busquets while fighting for the ball?

Video chat is an innovative technology that allows two or more parties to interact through a two-way video and audio transmission. I use this type of technology every time I talk with our relatives abroad. My mom prefers to use video chat via Skype so she can see the faces of her cousins with their sons' or daughter's babies trying to steal the show.
One time my aunt and I chatted through Skype. She showed me her newly constructed patio. She was boasting about the landscape that she herself designed. Unfortunately, I could not appreciate it because of the poor video quality I received through my one-month old webcam. I know it was a great patio full of colors but I could admire it if I only had the new HD (high definition) webcam of faceVsion called the FV TouchCam N1.
FV TouchCam of FaceVsion is the first HD webcam which is certified by Skype. With this device, I can get a crystal clear quality when video chatting with someone because of its ability to synchronize 720P HD video over a broadband connection. That means, I can see the newly constructed patio of my aunt in a "lifelike" video quality.
Many of you are not aware that most HD webcams in the market (e.g. Microsoft Cinema and Logitech Pro 9000) are only able to stream HD quality, if the call is local. But the FaceVsion's new webcam deletes this barrier through its embedded H.264 codec chip and dual microphone that supports beam-forming techniques resulting in crystal clear video quality. Needless to say, FV touchcam N1 is the first Internet streaming true HD webcam for Skype video calls.
FV touchcam N1 and FV ExpressCombo are available at shop.facevsion.com a.k.a faceVision on line store and other value added partners.
